There’s no circus without breathtaking acrobatics. So Tom journeyed into the dreamlike and magical world of the ring and created elegant figures with proud and elegant forms, all decorated in the typical Tom’s Drag style. This noble and exclusive collection is inspired by the world of the circus. The acrobats appear to float in the air thanks to their incredible moves.
This item is handcrafted and hand-painted, therefore variations in color, design, tone, small imperfections in the glue or paint, and irregularities are a specific characteristic of the product and testify to its artisanal craftsmanship.
Each Tom’s Drag item begins with a few quick sketches that the artist draws, quickly transforming them into a detailed image. A rough figure is then hand-carved from wood, the size and proportions of which mirror those of the final piece. It is hand-painted by the artist, creating the prototype from which the rubber mold will then be created. This rubber mold is key to all of Tom’s Drag’s works, as liquid marmorino, a mixture of ground marble and synthetic resin, is poured into it, which then solidifies. The piece, initially an opaque white, is then painted white and sanded. At this point, the edges of the color fields are drawn in pencil, serving as a reference for the artist when painting the object. The work is concluded with a layer of resin that makes the colors resistant.
