How to remove the protective coating from your wok before use:
Soak the wok bowl in hot water for 5 minutes to soften the lacquer coating.
Then use a scouring pad or steel wool with a generous amount of detergent to scrub the inside of the bowl for at least 3-4 minutes until all the clear protective coating has been removed.
IMPORTANT: If using your wok on a glass hob, including induction, repeat this scrubbing process on the outside base of the wok, the area in direct contact with the hob. If left unscrubbed, the lacquer will melt onto the glass. Ensure both the inside and outside of the wok are thoroughly washed and dried before seasoning the inside.
Cleaning:
To clean, hand wash with warm water and a mild detergent if desired. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth. To create the natural protective lacquer called patina, avoid using scouring powder, abrasives or metal scouring pads after use.
