The blown glass is handcrafted using the traditional balloton technique with a metal mold for a crisscross relief effect.
Venini Monofiore vases are made using the traditional balloton technique. This technique is used to achieve a unique optical effect. It involves the use of a metal mold with small, square-based pyramid tips inside, which, during blowing, give the object a crisscross relief effect.
Subsequently, by covering a vase with a balloton-printed blanket, the bullicante or bubble effect is achieved, consisting of countless air bubbles trapped between the two layers of glass. Balloton monofiori vases are blown in various transparent colors that change annually, always with a red or green thread applied hot to the upper part of the object. They are made in four different sizes.
Venini also creates limited and numbered edition colors.
Choosing VENINI for yourself, or as a gift, demonstrates the awareness of entering a world where preciousness is synonymous with the brand itself.
The exclusivity of its creations, the refined details, the intricate craftsmanship of the materials, and the attention to detail convey a form of luxury that represents the purest beauty of glass art.
“Tradition changed in 1970 and changed itself again in 2016. The essence remains: it appears soft, yet it is glass. The optical illusion of VENINI’s Monofiori is in its name: Balloton, the unique process that recreates a quilted effect on the surface. The piece is handcrafted, blown into a characteristic metal mold, and finished on the thin neck with a colored thread applied while hot, which varies in color.”
