The Guardian M cat is a hand-painted resin figure. Article from the Cats Collection line of Tom’s Drag.
The ‘Silver Line’ collection is 100% a Tom’s Drag production, even though it is totally different in appearance. Tom’s Drag proves that it also works with silver and fresh colours, while remaining totally authentic and unmistakable.
Nothing in the Tom’s Drag collection is industrially produced. Every single piece is an exclusively handcrafted work behind which lies a long and complex labour from the first draft to the final processing.
The sketch on paper begins with the artist’s inspiration from which a rough form of hand-carved wood comes to life. From this carving, the caoutchouc form is made, which is filled with a precise amount of liquid marmorino, which consists of ground marble and synthetic resin. The form is then closed and moved by hand. The blank is ready to be polished and painted with a white base. On this white base, the contours are then drawn in pencil and then the colours are applied. The hand-decoration stage is the longest and most complex due to the variety of designs and colour shades used. At the end of the chosen colours, gold leaf is applied to fix the colours. The last stage is the finishing of the details where Tom’s characteristic accessories such as rhinestones, piercings, earrings, eyelashes and other small details are applied.
